IRVINE, Calif. -- Fourteen Golf, a global leader in the development of golf equipment, proudly announced that its wedges were played at the PGA Tour Shell Houston Open to attain another Top-10 finish.
"Golfers on the PGA Tour recognize that Fourteen Golf wedges provide accuracy and consistency. This accounts to the growing number of PGA Professionals who finish in the Top-10 playing Fourteen Golf products. This week at the Shell Houston Open was no exception as a PGA Professional played two Fourteen Golf wedges to clinch his first Top-10 finish of the 2013 PGA Tour season," stated Fourteen Golf COO Marcy Kamoda.
Fourteen Golf and their wedges are played worldwide but this year's introduction to the Golf Digest's "Hot List" ranked RM-12 Wedges seems to have taken the company's acceptance on Tour, at retail, and with the media to a notable point in Fourteen Golf's history.
"The short game in golf is such a critical aspect for golfers who play week in and week out. They rely on consistent, accurate and precise wedge shots to keep their games sharp and scores low.
An approach shot can make the difference between a birdie and a bogey. This important benefit of our wedges helped a PGA Professional capture another exciting Top-10 finish on the Redstone Golf Course," added Kamoda.
Fourteen Golf knows the importance of the short game. The company has garnered a reputation throughout the world as being the preeminent wedge designer. The new RM-12 Wedge and 2013 Golf Digest "Hot List" verifies it.
This tour inspired, high performance wedge features the same large trapezoidal grooves as its predecessor, the RM 11-Wedge. These expanded grooves impart exceptional spin and rotational speed as the RM acronym implies - "Revolution per Minute."
These uniquely shaped trapezoidal grooves have been enlarged by 15% as compared to other Fourteen Golf wedges. This increase in overall groove volume enhances spin retention particularly on partial shots. In addition, these high quality grooves perform well in both dry and wet conditions.
The RM-12 Wedge and its sole design differ greatly from the original RM-11 Wedge. Tour players like to create different shots using the same wedge so the engineers rounded the toe and heel area on the H-Sole available on the 48-degree to 58-degree models and actually removed the back portion of the sole. These modifications allow golfers to open and close the face, promoting a variety of shots.
"The RM-12 Wedges are amazing! I always have great control from any lie which allows me to make the shot I want every time," stated John Mallinger, PGA Professional and Fourteen Golf Pro Staffer.
For the 60-degree RM-12 Wedge, the design team implemented a T-Sole, also known as a Twin Sole. A distinct ridge in the middle portion of the sole allows the club to get through any type of lie easily as the leading edge is able to slide under the club effortlessly. Additionally, when the club face is open, the back portion of the sole encourages the ball to pop up with the perfect amount of spin.
Touring Professionals appreciated the company's original "reverse taper design" so the engineers used it as a platform but increased the weight distribution on the upper blade to create a "reverse muscle design." In effect, the weight is perfectly proportioned on the blade and club head which creates stability through impact. Now golfers have better control from any lie. No more missing greens
Fourteen Golf is a burgeoning golf equipment company that takes great pride in their tour program. The company proudly announced the addition of PGA Professional John Mallinger to the Fourteen Golf Professional Staff in January of 2013. He will play the RM Series Wedges as well as wear a Fourteen Golf cap. His staff bag, head covers, umbrella and towel will all display the Fourteen Golf logo.
Last year, Fourteen Golf officially signed PGA Professional Ryuji Imada to a three year endorsement deal which includes a staff bag, head covers, hat, umbrella and wedges. He joins Fourteen Golf team members PGA Professionals Chad Collins and Arjun Atwal.
