Southern California's High Desert is a great, low-cost alternative to the high-end desert golf scene of Palm Springs or Las Vegas. Podcast host Dave Berner talks to WorldGolf.com Editor Bill Wolfrum, who recently took a trip to the area, about the opportunities there.
"You're going to find some cheap golf," Wolfrum says. "It's a low cost alternative to courses down the hill. It's definitely a good place to stop, especially when you think about the big money courses up there.
Planning a golf trip to Vegas the second weekend of February? Better book your tee times now, according to Jeff Smith of Las Vegas Golf Adventures.
"Not only do they have the NBA All Star Game here that weekend, it's President's Day weekend, along with Chinese New Year's, so it should be really crazy" he says. "President's Day weekend is already a busy weekend, so add in the All Star Game and it's going to be complete madness. So you definitely want to get your tee times booked."
Plus, Callaway Golf's new e-commerce platform, shop.callawaygolf.com, could be the beginning of the end for online golf stores, says Bruce Stasch of the Golf Gear News podcast.
"What Callaway is trying to do is eliminate the online only retailers that sell their product," Stasch says. "It basically kills the folks that just sell online and make their money without any stores. It's trying to tie the brick and mortar retailer more tightly to Callaway."
