Aerotech Golf's SteelFiber shafts dominate play at WGC-Accenture

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Well-known for delivering the power of graphite and the stability of steel, SteelFiber shafts by Aerotech Golf were unaffected by wild weather in the Arizona desert and dominated the field to win the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. The win was the second SteelFiber victory in three weeks on the PGA TOUR.

The 16-year pro and 2012 winner of The PLAYERS Championship, playing SteelFiber i95 shafts in his Bridgestone irons, held off the WGC-Accenture's defending champion to win his first tournament of 2013. The WGC-Accenture champion is one of only two former U.S. Amateur champions to win the Match Play Championship, and he owns a 15-3 record in Match Play, the best winning percentage of any player.

The No. 1 composite iron shafts on the PGA TOUR, SteelFiber shafts are now No. 1 and No. 2 on the PGA TOUR's FedExCup.

"From snow in the desert to a dominate performance all weekend, the WGC-Accenture will be talked about for a long time and we're very excited to see SteelFiber shafts win their third event in four weeks on the PGA and Champions Tours. I offer my personal congratulations to the Accenture champion for an outstanding and very memorable performance," said Aerotech Golf President Chris Hilleary. "SteelFiber is perhaps the biggest success story on the pro tours today. It's a one-of-a-kind technology that combines the performance characteristics of steel and graphite to provide both power and stability."

In addition to the win, Aerotech Golf chalked up another Top 10 finish at the WGC-Accenture as well. Another player scored T9 with SteelFiber composite shafts in his irons.

For the past three consecutive years, SteelFiber shafts have been the No. 1 iron composite shafts on the PGA TOUR. In addition to their second-straight Ryder Cup appearance, SteelFiber shafts won the 2012 FedExCup title, the TOUR Championship, The Players Championship and the Farmers Insurance Open and collected 21 Top 10 finishes on the PGA and Champions Tours. In 2011, two of the Top Eight players in the final FedExCup standings played SteelFiber shafts and SteelFiber delivered two Top Three finishes in the PGA TOUR PlayOffs.

SteelFiber shafts provide superior performance through innovative composite engineering that combines a high-modulus graphite core with 59 miles of steel fiber lacing the shaft surface. While the shaft's graphite core provides vibration dampening, increased clubhead speed and maximum distance, the steel fibers produce optimum weighting for a solid feel at impact and add stability and control for pinpoint accuracy. Originally developed for irons the SteelFiber technology now enhances the performance of hybrids, fairway woods and drivers.

Aerotech Golf specializes in innovative composite technology, and has supplied shafts to such renowned golf club manufactures as Titleist, Nike Golf, Bridgestone Golf, Cleveland Golf, Adams Golf, Miura, Srixon, Lynx, KZG, Nakashima, Scratch Golf, Zevo and Pure Spin among many others.
