SAN DIEGO -- Graphite Design — maker of some of the most widely played graphite driver shaft models on the PGA TOUR — announces the winner of the Nationwide Tour Championship played Graphite Design shafts in five clubs, according to the Darrell Survey.
Utilizing Graphite Design’s new Pershing shaft in his driver, the Prototype Model in his 3-wood, and the Tour AD in all three hybrid clubs, the winner fired a four-round total of 13-under-par 275 to prevail by one shot. The victory was his second of the season while using five Graphite Design shafts, and earned him a full exemption onto the 2007 PGA TOUR.
“We congratulate the Nationwide Tour Championship winner on his outstanding performance and are proud to have played a part in the victory,” said Akio Karashima, CEO of Graphite Design. “Professional golfers looking to take their game to the next level turn to Graphite Design shafts, which can help amateurs realize substantial accuracy and distance gains as well.”
On the Japan Tour, Graphite Design led the graphite wood shaft brand count with 107 shafts in play at the Mitsui Sumitomo Visa Taiheiyo Masters, 36 more than the nearest competitor, while the winner used Graphite Design models in his driver and a fairway wood. Graphite Design shafts have been the most-played brand for 132 straight tournaments on the Japan Tour, an unprecedented streak dating back to 2002.
Last year, Graphite Design shafts were used by 18 winners on the PGA TOUR and 42 winners worldwide, helping them amass more than $75 million in earnings. They were also played by PGA TOUR leaders in Total Driving (distance plus accuracy), five of the top-10 players in Driving Accuracy Percentage, four of the top-10 money winners, and top-10 players in the World Golf Rankings.
On the Japan Tour, Graphite Design shafts were victorious 16 times in 2005.
