Sequoia Golf Group to manage Jefferson Lakeside Country Club in Richmond, Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. -- Sequoia Golf Group recently announced that it has been hired as club manager to partner with the Board at Jefferson Lakeside Country Club. After an initial six month contract, the Board of Directors unanimously voted to engage Sequoia Golf as managing partner based on its extensive experience managing golf facilities and a shared vision for the future of Jefferson Lakeside Country Club.

Through this partnership, Sequoia Golf is committed to enhancing the total membership experience and solidifying Jefferson Lakeside as one of the most sought after Richmond area clubs. During the initial six month contract in 2012, Sequoia Golf played an integral role in the addition of 152 new members to the club and intends to build upon this momentum and the course's strong existing membership base by making new membership growth a priority. In addition, the company will oversee future course renovations and improvements to the restaurant, pool, tennis and other facilities.

"Sequoia Golf Group's broad range of expertise, strong leadership style and high success rates have impressed us immensely," said Barry White, president of Jefferson Lakeside Country Club. "We are thrilled to have partnered with Sequoia and look forward to our continued success under their management."

Jefferson Lakeside is the only original Donald Ross designed course in Central Virginia, complete with small, lush greens and beautiful park-like landscaping. Prior to the club's founding in 1915, the property was a cycling and boating club and later, the grounds were used as Richmond's first botanical zoo. Remnants from Jefferson's Lakeside rich historical past still exist on the property today and visitors to the club can see three beautiful stone dwellings as they play their way through the picturesque course. Having undergone a $1.5 million renovation in 2011, Jefferson Lakeside boasts one of the most beautiful and tranquil courses in the Richmond area. The course, in addition to the clubhouse, restaurant, pool and tennis courts, makes Jefferson Lakeside the ultimate destination for golfers seeking comfort and fun in a relaxed setting.

"Jefferson Lakeside is a true historical gem," said Jefferson Lakeside General Manager Martin Thompson. "We are proud to have the only remaining Donald Ross designed course in the Richmond area. Its classic beauty and unique history makes for an unparalleled golfing experience for both our members and their guests."
