WICHITA, Kansas – Nov. 18, 2004 – With the conclusion of the 2004 season, Fred Couples, Steve Flesch and Bruce Lietzke – all of whom own and practice on high-performance SofTrak Synthetic Putting Greens – recorded successful seasons spurred on largely by their short-game expertise.
Combined, the trio combined to win more than $4.5 million. The 37-year-old Flesch, a resident of Union, Kentucky, captured his second PGA Tour victory since joining the Tour six years ago. He defeated Chad Campbell by one stroke to win the Bank of America Colonial in May.
Flesch averaged 1.763 putts per green in 2004, right behind Vijay Singh (1.757), and registered four Top 10 finishes. He also qualified for the elite, season-ending Tour Championship for the second straight season thanks to finishing No. 18 on the Tour money list with more than $2.4 million.
Erstwhile major champion Couples accumulated $1.4 million in prize money, along with three top 10 finishes. His earnings put him over the $16.5 million mark for his illustrious career. Lietzke, owner of 13 PGA Tour titles, finished five times in the top five in Champions Tour events this season, including two second-place efforts. He won nearly $1 million this year.
SofTrak Putting Greens – developed by Wichita, KS-based United Turf Industries – feature high-performance synthetic turf that closely simulates the look and feel of natural turf for residential and commercial use. “My SofTrak Putting Green helps me improve my short game yet it’s fun for our entire family and it looks great at our home,” says Couples, who’s SofTrak Putting Green is 1,200 square feet, complete with fringe and adjacent bunker.

In addition to Couples, Lietzke and Flesch, many other Tour standouts chose to have superior-performing SofTrak putting greens designed and constructed in their backyards. Unique to the synthetic putting-green industry, SofTrak’s design-and-construction process includes two layers of crushed stone base, which enables undulations and contours to be sculpted into greens, as well as quick, thorough water drainage. Furthermore, SofTrak’s proprietary RQS in-fill material – which looks and performs like sand – is unique to the industry in that it resists hardening over time, ensures it provides consistent-rolling putts and it “holds” shots from more than 125 yards away. The surface fibers of SofTrak greens are UV-ray resistant to help maintain their lush, green appearance.
From homes to commercial venues, golfers and businesses are turning to SofTrak for its convenience, affordability, and realistic performance. SofTrak Putting Greens help golfers improve their game and provide entertainment for family, friends and business associates.
