LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. -- The International Senior Ladies Golf Tour (formerly the Ladies Champions Tour) announced that it will hold its inaugural invitational charity Pro-Am tournament at McCormick Ranch Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. on December 4, 2006.
Amateur players recruited by the Arizona Golf Association and the Arizona Women’s Golf Association will play with ISLGT Tour Professionals in a friendly scramble format, and all proceeds from charity fundraising activities will benefit the In-and-Out Burger Foundation.
Also playing with the pros will be two junior girls’ teams, which will be sponsored by local businesses, and all sponsor dollars supporting the junior teams also will go to the Foundation.
“After months and months of hard grinding in the establishment of this new organization, we are pleased to be able to get all our members together on a course for the first time to support such a worthwhile cause,” said Vicki Fergon, President of the Ladies International Golf Tour. “We appreciate the generous show of support from all our members for the ISLGT. This is our first step in the establishment of a new Tour, but a giant step towards our goal – the promotion of senior women’s golf, providing entertainment to the public and our fans, and helping promote the valuable products and services of our sponsors and partners world wide, not only in the U.S.”
The ISLGT was incorporated by Fergon and plans to have 14 events annually in five countries within the next three years, and is negotiating with sponsors and courses that have proven very receptive to the concept. The new association has 45 founding members including Marlene Hagge who was one of the foundering members of the LPGA in 1950, and has received playing commitments from 61 of 84 eligible players.
The ISLGT’s charity partner, the In-and-Out Burger Foundation, assists children who have been victims of child abuse, and to prevent others from suffering a similar fate. The foundation supports organizations that are involved in the prevention, residential treatment, emergency shelter, foster care, intervention, and education regarding child abuse.
Tournament sponsor Magique Golf has designed, manufactured and distributed a full line of high-quality golf clubs – including drivers, fairway woods, hybrids, irons, putters and wedges – and demonstrated an unwavering commitment to helping average golfers play better through custom fitting. And the company’s ‘Better Fit. Better Price.’ message is resonating with golfers around the world.
