ORLANDO, Fla. -- Marriott Golf, one of the world's premier golf operators, announced that Scott Lien has been named Head Golf Professional at The Rookery at Marco, located at the Marco Island Marriott Golf Resort in Marco Island, Fla. In this new position, Lien will be responsible for managing retail merchandising, outings and tournaments, and overall golf shop operations.
Lien joins the Marco Island team from Stone Mountain Golf Club, an 18-hole facility located in Stone Mountain, Ga., on the heels of being named the 2012 Georgia PGA Section Merchandiser of the Year in the Public Category. Additionally, in 2011, Lien was awarded the Leader of the Quarter (Q1) for Marriott's Evergreen Conference Center.
Lien began his career with Marriott at the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club in Basseterre, St. Kitts, one of the most scenic and best conditioned courses in the Caribbean, where he worked his way from intern to Head PGA Golf Professional. During his tenure in St. Kitts, Lien was honored with the Marriott Golf Sales Excellence Award in 2009, and also received the Marriott Golf Crystal Achievement Award for Public Relations in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Lien is originally from Hoyt Lakes, Minn., and is a graduate of Ferris State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing with an emphasis on Professional Golf Management.
