ATLANTA -- Sequoia Golf announced that Kevin Kirk, director of instruction at the company's Woodlands Country Club, was named to GOLF Magazine's Top 100 Teachers in America list for 2013 - 2014. One of the highest honors available for golf instructors, Kirk was one of the 100 selected from the country's 25,000 instruction professionals selected for the national publication's distinguished award.
Throughout his 20 year career, Kirk spent more than 30,000 hours instructing players of all abilities and ages. He has lectured and consulted players and professionals around the world and is well known as an expert in golf athlete development and high performance training. Kirk is a college All American, Master PGA Professional and four time recipient of the coveted STPGA Harvey Penick Teacher of the Year Award.
"Kevin Kirk has been dedicated to instructing and challenging his students with innovative and interactive methods for more than 20 years," said Joe Guerra, president of Sequoia Golf. "His passion for teaching and love of the game make him ideal for this award. We couldn't be more proud of the honor he has received."
Since its inception in 1996, GOLF Magazine's Top 100 Teachers in America list has become the industry standard for teaching excellence. Candidates are selected from nominees submitted by the PGA, LPGA, United States Golf Teachers Federation, top industry executives and GOLF Magazine readers. Finalists are based upon a combination of 10 criteria including: swing knowledge, communications skills, innovative teaching ideas, flexibility in teaching different learning types, proven success, willingness to share knowledge with peers, longevity, success with well-known golfers, industry awards and number of nominations/recommendations/presentations.
Recipients of Golf Magazine's Top 100 Teachers honor become a part of an organization more so than a listing. Members are given the responsibility to collaborate to improve upon player education, instruction techniques, public outreach and research the way the game is taught and played.
The complete list of the top 100 teachers will debut in GOLF Magazine's February/March 2013 issue.
