Golf Pride returns as presenting sponsor of 11th PGA Jones Cup

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- The PGA of America has announced Golf Pride as presenting sponsor of the 11th PGA Jones Cup, Nov. 12-14, at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla. This will be the second consecutive year that Golf Pride will serve as the presenting sponsor of the signature event for future PGA Professionals and its third overall year of sponsorship.

The PGA Jones Cup, a 36-hole tournament featuring five players from each of the 20 PGA Golf Management University programs, is named for the first PGA Golf Management University Program Director at Mississippi State University, Dr. Roland S. Jones.

Dr. Jones held the position at the University from 1985 until his passing in 1997.

The event, contested for the fifth consecutive year at PGA Golf Club, provides a platform for participants to display professionalism, integrity, character and camaraderie -- all characteristics Dr. Jones instilled in PGA Golf Management students.

"The PGA of America is proud to once again partner with Golf Pride for the 11th PGA Jones Cup, an event that honors the memory of its founder Dr. Roland Jones and showcases the future of our Association in the best and the brightest of students from our 20 PGA Golf Management Universities nationwide," said PGA President Allen Wronowski. "Golf Pride is an industry leader, and we are excited about this extended relationship."

"Golf Pride is proud to support the PGA Golf Management University Program as presenting sponsor of the PGA Jones Cup," said Brandon Sowell, Global Sales and Marketing Manager for Eaton's Golf Grip Division. "As PGM students become successful PGA Professionals and influential leaders in the golf industry, we value the opportunity to educate them on the importance of high-performance grips."

All participating universities in the PGA Jones Cup are schools accredited by The PGA of America to offer the four-and-one half to five-year PGA Golf Management University Program for aspiring PGA Professionals. The college curriculum provides extensive classroom studies, internship experience and player development, and affords students the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills to succeed in the golf industry as a PGA Professional.

Students in the PGA Golf Management University Program study a combination of golf and business-related subjects, as well as serve a minimum of 16 months in on-course internships within the golf industry.
