MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- CHAMP Spikes, the number one brand on tour, showed its versatility again with a win on the PGA Tour and by capturing the European Tour Order of Merit Championship.
The CHAMP Pro Stinger ™ was the spike of choice for the winner of the Chrysler Championship, his second Chrysler title in five years. The winner finished a 13-under 271 wearing CHAMP Spikes and won by a four stroke lead. The victor didn’t relinquish his lead as he sunk a 20-foot eagle on the opening hole and continued to steamroll the competition.
Overall, CHAMP spikes were on the feet of 4 of the top 10 finishers.
Meanwhile, in Europe, the overall winner of the 2006 European Tour of Merit sported CHAMP Spikes as he took second at the Volvo Masters at Valderrama. The second place finish vaulted him into the top spot for his first ever European Tour of Merit Championship. At Valderrama, the winner of the Tour of Merit sported the CDT cleat, a unique and specially designed CHAMP spike with elongated legs made especially for Hi-Tec shoes, providing greater comfort and stability and optimal directional traction.
“The common thread here is that both winners not only wore our spikes, but were also wearing shoes that utilize our Q-Lok™ system” said Harris MacNeill, President of CHAMP. “The CHAMP Q-lok™ system is becoming more popular with professionals as well as recreational golfers. People are beginning to discover what the world’s top ranked golfer already knows. The Q-Lok™ system is the most comfortable and the easiest to change. With Q-Lok™ there is no more wrestling with stripped threads or stubborn spikes. The Q-Lok™ receptacle has been proven to be the best for cleat retention and comfort. With Q-Lok™ there is no need to worry about spikes falling out.”
With these victories, CHAMP now owns 27 of 39 PGA TOUR titles, 15 of 23 on the European Tour and 12 of 23 on the LPGA in 2006. CHAMP Spikes also captured the elusive PGA “Grand Slam,” as CHAMP swept all four major tournaments.
