Canongate Golf's Atlanta-area courses receive revitalization work

ATLANTA -- To enhance the quality of play for members and their guests, Canongate Golf, the Southeast's leading private golf club network, recently converted the greens at four of its Atlanta-area courses. Over $1.2 million was invested in the new greens. During the four-month process at Canongate's White Oak, Olde Atlanta, Bentwater and Smoke Rise golf courses all of the greens, which previously used Bentgrass, were replaced with high-quality Mini Verde Ultra Dwarf Bermuda. The more than $300,000 per-course conversion process included aerifying and verticutting the original greens prior to planting the Bermuda grass.

To guarantee the best results, the conversion occurred during the summer months, which provides optimal conditions for success with high temperatures and long days that meet the required hours of direct sunlight. Mini Verde Ultra Dwarf Bermuda has a strong reputation throughout the industry for providing quality play year-round. The grass is known to be superior to its competitors in terms of recovery, tolerance to temperature extremes, stress and wear from foot traffic.

"At Canongate Golf we are committed to providing our members with the best courses and amenities available in the area," said Joe Guerra, president and CEO of Canongate Golf. "Converting four of our courses to Mini Verde Ultra Dwarf Bermuda gives our members the opportunity to play on both Bermuda and Bentgrass, making the best greens accessible year-round."

Canongate Golf previously installed Ultra Dwarf Bermuda grass at its Whitewater Creek and Eagle Watch golf courses, with additional conversions planned for 2013 including Windermere Golf Club. For additional information on Canongate Golf Clubs, visit
