BOULDER, Colo. -- This was the inaugural event for the CEO Golf Challenge World Championship in conjunction with the US Pro Golf Tour. The event took place at the luxurious Ritz Carlton Golf Resort in Naples Florida on October 12-15, 2006.
The purse was for $400,000 for the pros who included PGA tour veteran Bobby Clampett and former MLB pitcher Jose Alvirez who battled it out for the money. But it was Canadian Jim Frye who won the prestigious title of Best CEO Golfer in the World. Jim who is the CEO of Jim McLean Golf Schools International had a two day total of 161 to capture the title. Going head to head with runner up Jim Magnusson from WCI Properties, both gentlemen were two over after nine holes of the final round on the very demanding Black course at Tiburon. After sinking a couple of birdies on the first three holes on the back, Frye was able to hold on and shoot 80 to win the tournament. All of this was in front of television cameras and will be aired on Fox Sports in 2-3 weeks time.
The CEO’s and the pros were privy to Tuscany Reserve Golf Club for one of the rounds. This ultra exclusive golf club community with a Tuscan flair was thoroughly enjoyed by all and certainly provided a true test of golf. It was heard by one player quoting “ As far as he was concerned, the stunning beauty and fabulous condition of Tuscany Reserve rivaled Augusta National.”
“With 95% of the participants rating the event as “far exceeding their expectations”, I think it’s safe to say the event was a huge success says Joanne Noble, President of the CEO Golf Challenge. In addition to this success, a very important component to all of our CEO Challenges is being able to donate to charity from a portion of the entrance fee. I am very happy to report that we will be making a $2500. donation to the Prostate Cancer Foundation on behalf of the CEO Golf Challenge participants.
“Noble continues, our goal is to find the Best CEO Golfer in the World and also, equally important, to create a platform for executives alike to be able to network amongst themselves. It was clearly evident right from the start at our Thursday Night Welcome Dinner that all of the participants immediately respected each other’s accomplishments and before long the discussions taking place turned into business opportunities to work together. It may have been the golf that attracted the CEO’s to take part, but it was the networking and friendships that were formed over the four days that they really enjoyed.”
Here is just one example of the many testimonials received.
“Thank you for running such a great event. I thoroughly enjoyed participating in the 2006 CEO Challenge. I met lots of great people and I believe that it will prove to be invaluable for business. Count me in for the 2007 CEO Golf Challenge” says Don Rose, President and
