The inaugural 2012 season of the PGA Tour Latino America will debut in Mexico with two new events, the Mundo Maya Open and the Monterrey Open. The Mundo Maya Open kicks off the season on Sept.3, 2012 in Merida, Mexico at the Yucatan Country Club, a Jack Nicklaus Signature design golf course

The historic and culture center of the Yucatan Peninsula in the city of Merida will have the world of golf spotlight shining brightly the first week of September as host of the Mundo Mayan Golf Tournament. This first in a series of the newly developed PGA Tournament Latin America will kick off with a press conference headed by the PGA Tour Commissioner, Tim Finchem, "We are excited to extend the reach and depth of our tour to include the raising talents of golfers from The Americas". The PGALA has scheduled eleven golf tournament events in anticipation of the inclusion of golf in the Olympics hosted by Brazil in 2016.
The Yucatan Country Club will be the PGALA tournament site on their spectacular 18 hold, par 72, 7295 yards golf course. Jack Nicklaus created a water wonderland from a landscape known more for it's flat dry topography by reaching a few meters into the porous limestone with explosive charges to fashion 11 lakes, streams, ponds and waterfalls ready to stand guard against the skills of the PGALA Tournament Players ready to take on the challenge of Yucatan Country Club Regardless of the scores players, members and guests, they can take comfort in the luxurious accommodation they will find inside of the 165,000 square feet clubhouse, one of the biggest and best in all of Mexico.
