England's Burhill Golf Club hosts Rick Wakeman for charity event

The stars of sport and entertainment will come together at Burhill Golf Club next week as world renowned musician Rick Wakeman stages his annual charity day in aid of SPARKS.

The former Yes keyboard player and Grumpy Old Man will be staging his 13th event at Burhill Golf Club - part of BGL Golf, the UK's leading golf course owner and operator - on Friday, August 24, and members of the public are invited to join in the climax to the event, which annually raises thousands of pounds for SPARKS - a charity committed to helping pioneer research projects across a wide spectrum of medical conditions, including childhood cancers, cerebral palsy, premature birth and spina bifida.

Celebrities such as Bobby Davro, Jess Conrad, Ray Clemence and Steve Coppell have all taken part in the event in previous years, which will this year see a competition on Burhill's acclaimed Old Course followed by a sumptuous three-course dinner in the brand new Walled Garden Marquee, a variety of celebrity acts, charity auction, disco and an exclusive concert from Wakeman himself, along with his son Adam.

Tickets are available for the evening events at a cost ofjust £60 each.

David Cook, Burhill Golf Club General Manager, said: "The Rick Wakeman Charity Day is always an amazing occasion with so many stars from sport and screen playing golf and then entertaining throughout the evening.

"Over the years this event has raised thousands and thousands of pounds for SPARKS and we are hopeful that this year it will raise even more."
