The Shropshire Golf Centre is giving people the chance to be pictured with the Olympic Torch, while also raising much-needed funds for charity.
The public pay-and-play centre will be staging an Olympic Family Fun Day on Sunday, August 12, (starting at noon) to coincide with the London 2012 closing ceremony, and visitors will be able to have a picture with the Olympic Torch thanks to young torch bearer Stuart Watson
The 16-year-old from Aqueduct, Telford, ran with the torch during the relay that preceded the games, having been selected due to his tireless work for the community and Cancer Research UK. Stuart's father lost his battle with cancer in 2009 and since then the teenager has raised thousands of pounds for the charity.
He will be attending The Shropshire's Olympic Family Fun Day and bringing his torch with him, allowing people to pose for snaps with thefamous symbol for a donation, with all money raised throughout the day beingsplit between Cancer Research and the Princess Royal Children's Ward.
Stuart Perry, The Shropshire General Manager, said: "Having your picture taken with the Olympic torch is just one of the many exciting things for families to do during the day. We will also be staging a mini-Olympics with fun games and events during the afternoon such as egg and spoon races, obstacle course and giant garden games, complete with podium and medal ceremonies to hand out gold, silver and bronze medals to the winners.
"Entry for the day is completely free of charge and everyone is welcome to attend. There is also an outside disco and bouncy castle, it will be a great day for families."
"Since taking part in the relay Stuart has used the torch and his experience to raise money for charity and we are only too happy to have him along and help him to continue raising valuable funds to fight this terrible illness."
The Shropshire Golf Centre - part of BGL Golf, the UK's leading golf course owner and operator - will also be offering free golf on its Par-3 Academy Course, which provides the perfect setting for families to enjoy a fun and friendly game.
Throughout the day The Shropshire's Sunday carvery will be taking place in the clubhouse for those wanting to grab a bite to eat and the bar will be open all day for refreshments.
