Tom Bayliff longest driver at England's Birchwood Park Golf Centre

The star of the show at Birchwood Park Golf Centre's long drive competition was 17-year-old, Tom Bayliss whose 264-yard carry won the event.

Held at the public pay-and-play centre's 41-bay floodlit driving range, Tom used a Nike VR_S Driver to record his mighty blow, measured to pinpoint accuracy by state-of-the-art ball flight monitors.

An up-and-coming junior member with a +1 handicap at Birchwood Park - part of BGL Golf, the UK's leading golf course owner and operator - Tom's supreme length off the tee earned him a dozen brand new Nike 20XI golf balls.

Combining the long drive event with a demonstration from Nike Golf and Yonex, attendees were given the opportunity to try out the latest products from the leading golf manufacturers. These included Nike's new VR range, as used on the PGA Tour by Tiger Woods and Yonex's new Ezone Driver Type 420, favoured by the youthful Japanese golfer, Ryo Ishikawa.

Graham Rolland, Birchwood Park Golf Centre General Manager, said: "I'd like to congratulate Tom on his victory and his very long drive. He is a hugely talented golfer so I'm sure this won't be the only success we see him having.

"The ball flight monitors are a fantastic fixture in our driving range and any golfers looking to improve their game can learn a lot from a session with them. It could even get you to Tom's extremely high standard."
