Graphite Design YS-6 Most Popular Graphite Shaft at Booz Allen Classic
(SAN DIEGO, California) – Graphite Design International (GDI) had another strong showing on the PGA Tour this past weekend, with its YS-6 shaft tying for distinction as the most popular graphite shaft at the Booz Allen Classic. Six of the top-10 finishers at that event also used GDI shafts in their metal woods.
GDI’s shafts feature the world’s most advanced technology. Some of their 2004 PGA Tour highlights:
- The Top two money leaders use GDI shafts weekly
- Played by the PGA Tour leader in Driving Distance
- Played by the PGA Tour leader in Driving Accuracy Percentage
- Nine wins in 25 weeks
- #1 Graphite Manufacturer (11 times)
- #1 Graphite Shaft Brand (10 times)
- #1 Graphite Shaft Model (YS-6: 10 times)
- Players have won more than $25 million with GDI shafts in their golf clubs
- Nearly 50 percent of top-5 and top-10 finishers use GDI shafts weekly
Also of note this past weekend was GDI’s continued dominance of the Japan PGA Tour, where it was the #1 Manufacturer and #1 Graphite Shaft Brand at the Mizuno Open. This marks the 60th consecutive week GDI has been the most-played graphite shaft on the JPGA Tour, according to Darrell Survey.
'Under the toughest conditions and in the biggest tournaments, PGA Tour players continue to choose Graphite Design shafts because of our cutting-edge technology,” says Akio Karashima, CEO of San Diego-based GDI. “Our shafts help anyone – from the world’s best professionals to weekend amateurs – hit better shots.”
GDI recently unveiled its new high-performance graphite YS Power shafts for drivers and fairway woods, as well as its multi-material GAT (Graphite Alloy Technology) 105 LB and 75 shafts for irons. Like other YS and GAT shafts, as well as GDI's 'Purple Ice' models, golfers are referring to the new products as 'the Mercedes Benzes of shafts.'
