ORLANDO, Fla. -- The fourth season of Golf Channel’s hit original series The Haney Project comes to an end with a special one-hour season finale on Monday, April 23 at 9 p.m. ET. The season finale pits Grammy Award-winning Maroon 5 front man and mentor on NBC’s “The Voice” Adam Levine, legendary boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, acclaimed chef Mario Batali and former supermodel Angie Everhart against each other in an ultimate final showdown.
For eight weeks, Levine, Leonard, Batali and Everhart have been working on their golf game under the guidance of Tiger Woods’ former swing coach Hank Haney. In the hour-long season finale, Haney gets one last look at his four celebrity “projects” gathered at the El Dorado Golf and Beach Club in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to compete for the chance to win $100,000 for the charity of his or her choice.
Levine is competing for Teen Impact, a support program for teens and young adults that have or once had cancer or a blood disease; Batali is playing for the Mario Batali Foundation, which was established to feed, protect, educate and empower children; Everhart is competing for Wednesday's Child, which helps find permanent, loving adoptive families for children in foster care; and Leonard is playing for the Sugar Ray Leonard Foundation, which raises funds to fight diabetes and child obesity.
Haney puts the foursome’s hard work to the test with several skills challenges from tee to green. After the tough competition, Haney awards The Haney Trophy to the season’s most improved player and a total of $100,000 to contestants’ charities based on the skills competitions and overall improvement. The episode concludes with a musical tribute capturing some of the best moments from this season of The Haney Project.
The Haney Project has been a critical and ratings success for Golf Channel’s Monday primetime lineup. New seasons of The Haney Project and Feherty so far this year have contributed to a 25 percent lift in Monday primetime over the same period in 2011, and a 64 percent lift during the 9-11p.m. time period when both series air. The first season, which starred Charles Barkley, marked the highest-rated launch of an original series at that time. Subsequent seasons featured actor Ray Romano and conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh.
The Haney Project also complements Golf Channel’s exciting slate of instructional and informational programming, including The Golf Fix, School of Golf, On the Range and Golf Channel Academy, featuring golf greats Greg Norman, Annika Sorenstam and Lanny Wadkins. The series is produced by Golf Channel in conjunction with The WorkShop, LLC, an independent multi-media production company based in Bryn Mawr, Pa.
