Harrington and Wall finish 1-2 at the Dunhill Links Championship

CHICAGO -- Wilson Staff Advisory Member Padraig Harrington won the Dunhill Links Championship with a 16-under 271 and celebrated with Wilson Staff Advisory teammate Anthony Wall who surged to a second place finish. Both Harrington and Wall counted on their Wilson Staff Pi5 irons for precise and dominant iron play. This is the first 1-2 finish for the Wilson Staff brand since its re-launch in 2004.

Harrington, the celebrated Wilson Staff and Ryder Cup player, birdied the 11th hole with a surgical cut of his Wilson Staff Pi5 iron to take the lead enroute to a final round 68. Leading by four strokes on the 18th fairway, Harrington hit another perfect approach shot with his Pi5 irons for one final birdie – a tournament total 22 – to seal victory. The triumph moved Harrington up three spots and into sole possession of second on the European Order of Merit with two events to play.

“My iron play all week was just tremendous,” commented Harrington. “It’s exciting to see not just myself, but also Anthony perform so well with Wilson Staff irons. It truly was a special day for Wilson Golf as they continue to be world class leaders in iron development.”
Referring to his fellow Wilson Staff Pi5 iron player Anthony Wall, who’s final round 67 earned him a second-place finish. Anthony overcame a torn muscle in his arm to register an 11-under 276, including eight birdies on the final day.

“On behalf of Wilson Golf, I congratulate both Padraig and Anthony on their tremendous play at the Dunhill Links Championship,” said Tim Clarke, General Manager, Wilson Golf. “Both golfers showed remarkable poise and fortitude to battle their way to a great one-two finish against many of the world’s best players. Their play is tribute to our tour-proven Pi5 iron, which joins the award-winning Ci6 iron and new Di7 to comprise one of the strongest iron families in the game today.”

Harrington, a Wilson Staff professional since 1998, was instrumental in the development of the new Wilson Staff irons, driver and wedges. He plays the Wilson Staff Pi5 Irons (#3-PW), Pd5 Driver, FwC 5-wood, Dh6 Hybrid (19°) and Tw5 Wedges (52° and 58°). He also wears Wilson Staff headwear and carries a Wilson Staff Tour Bag.

“While I have tremendous confidence in all of my Wilson Staff equipment, my irons truly made the difference this weekend,” continued Harrington. “My Wilson Staff Pi5 irons blend the right amount of distance and control enabling me to be both aggressive and accurate from anywhere on the course. Whether on Tour or with regular players on weekends, Wilson Golf has the iron.”

Wall, signed as a Wilson Staff Advisory Member in 2003, plays Pi5 irons and features Wilson branding on his hat and bag. His finish moves him up to 12th place on the European Tour Order of Merit.
