LinkServ Golf completed a GPS attitudes and preference survey

APPLE VALLEY, Minn. -- LinkServ Golf announced that it has completed a comprehensive attitude and preference survey regarding U.S. golfer’s preferences for GPS technology on golf courses. LinkServ Golf created and sent out a survey to over 12,000 avid golfers across the United States. The results represent the largest survey ever completed regarding GPS attitudes and preferences.

Today’s most popular GPS yardage systems let the golfers see a graphical representation of the hole they are playing and offer immediate and accurate distance information from any point on the golf course. The survey was conducted over several months during the past year and consisted of subscribers to the GolfConnect.com network of golf tee time services nationwide.

Survey responses were tabulated on September 15, 2006. Highlights of the survey included:
• 72 percent of all respondents prefer to golf at a course that offers GPS over a golf course that did not offer GPS. Only 24 percent of all respondents indicated no preference.
• 90 percent of respondents are not opposed to advertising being displayed on the GPS units.
• 59 percent of respondents would have a greater tendency to choose the products and services of businesses that advertised on the GPS systems at their favorite golf course.
• Over 91 percent of all respondents indicated they have played on a golf course that utilized a GPS system.

“Without a doubt, the results of this survey indicate that GPS yardage systems enhance the golfing experience and golfers want to see this enhancement."
