Champ Spikes captures two wins, one in Europe, one in America

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- CHAMP Spikes, the number one brand on tour, showed its versatility again with two victories, one at home and one overseas. The WGC-American Express Champion, in England, sported CHAMP Spikes for his 6th straight victory and the Southern Farm Bureau Classic Champion also wore CHAMP Spikes for his 1st professional PGA Tour win. CHAMP Spikes continues its terrific year after sweeping the four PGA majors, collecting the 2006 “Grand Slam.”

The CHAMP Cermec® Spike was the spike of choice for the winner of the WGC-American Express Championship in Hertfordshire, England as he collected his 6th straight title. The Cermec® Spike has won several European tournaments this season as it provides stability and balance on uneven European terrain with its metal composition and impact resistant ceramic ball that’s fused to a hardened tool steel spike. The winner finished eight strokes ahead of the runner-up while capturing his second straight WGC-American Express Championship. Overall, 23 out of the 62 players in the field were wearing CHAMP Spikes.

While one golfer was adding to his historic legacy, another golfer picked up his first ever PGA Tour win as he secured the Southern Farm Bureau Classic. The winner wore CHAMP Spikes Pro Stinger™ Spikes as he accomplished his feat hitting a 5 foot birdie on the 3rd playoff hole to win the title.

“What a great weekend for CHAMP Spikes, the number one brand on tour,” said Harris MacNeill, president of CHAMP. “We were part of history as one golfer wins his first title and another adds to his growing list of victories. With wins in America and Europe, CHAMP Spikes secures its distinction as the top brand on tour as we provide golfers with different spikes for different terrains.”

With these victories, CHAMP now owns 25 of 37 PGA TOUR titles, 13 of 21 on the European Tour and 11 of 21 on the LPGA in 2006, including the PGA “Grand Slam,” in which CHAMP swept all four majors.
