Elea Golf Club to host 2012 'Love Cyprus' Senior Amateur Open

Elea Golf Club near Paphos, part of the award-winning Elea Estate development (http://www.eleaestate.com), has announced it will host the prestigious 'Love Cyprus' Senior Amateur Open Championship, in partnership with the Cyprus Golf Federation, for the first time.

In previous years this important event has attracted entrants from across Europe - in 2011 golfers from 16 countries, including competitors from the UK, Germany, Sweden, Russia, USA and of course, Cyprus -- took part and this year the trend looks set to continue.

The Cyprus Golf Federation has again confirmed the men's and ladies events will run concurrently over the two days' of stroke play competition (26th and 27th), played over 36 holes with the winners from each event recording the lowest gross score over the combined days (the first day of the three-day programme, May 25th, will be designated as a registration/practice day for competitors).

Nick Rossides, General Secretary of the Cyprus Golf Federation, the official governing body for golf in Cyprus, said: "This event attracts a truly international audience and we look forward to welcoming senior golfers over the age of 50, men and women, to the beautiful fairways of Elea Golf Club for what looks set to be a great event.

"Golf in Cyprus is rapidly growing momentum and annual events such as this are important in raising awareness of the sport on the island, attracting more visitors from overseas, and encouraging more Cypriots to take up golf."

The last day for entries is May 21st, 2012. Entry fees are: International entry €140; CGF members (non-home club) €70; Home course members (Elea Golf Club) €35. Entry fees include three rounds of golf for international competitors and two rounds for CGF members.

To further improve the player experience, the entry fee includes the acclaimed Elea concierge service, complimentary range balls, local drinks voucher, prizes and a world class prize-giving buffet prepared by Elea's renowned executive chef, John Kouphou, in the Elea clubhouse on the final day.

All applicants are required to register for the event through the online application form under the events page on the Cyprus Golf Federation website (www.cgf.org.cy), or by using the following links:

"As the best course on the island, one of Elea Estate's strategic objectives is to assist in raising the awareness of golf in Cyprus, and by staging events such as this, which attracts entrants both from Cyprus and from across the globe, we are helping to further enhance the island's golf offering."
