Golf For Promise Junior Classic helps North Carolina Children's Hospital

In 2010, a middle school patient of the North Carolina Children's Hospital was inspired to give back to the institution that has provided her medical services for over 8 years. Combining her love of competitive golf and a desire to establish an annual event that would help other children for years to come, Jessica Kittelberger started Golf for Promise, a charity golf tournament to create awareness and provide financial support to North Carolina Children's Hospital at the University of North Carolina. To date the Golf for Promise events have provided $18,000 to the hospital's children's programs.

In 2012, the Golf for Promise weekend will include a 36 hole, nationally ranked junior tournament. The Golf for Promise Junior Classic, benefitting the NC Children's Promise, will be held on April 21-22, at The University of North Carolina's A.E. Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill. The tournament is open to boys and girls in grades 6-12 with separate playing divisions for high school boys, middle school boys and girls and will be co-hosted by the NC Junior Golf Foundation, a volunteer non-profit organization.

About Golf For Promise:
Golf For Promise was started in 2010 as a one day charity golf outing by a young hospital patient at NC Children's Hospital. The event has attracted a mix of adult and junior players in the past and has raised $18000 for children's programs at the hospital. With the success of the first two years and with the encouragement of some of the top ranked junior golfers in the southeast Golf For Promise has expanded to include the Golf For Promise Junior Classic to allow young men and women to participate while contributing to the successful children's programs at NC Children's Hospital, part of UNC Healthcare.
