Wonderland Publications, headed up by authors and artists Paul Skellett and Simon Weitzman, introduce GOLF, the world's most luxurious and unique golf publication at the 2012 Orlando PGA Show, January 25-28. The unveiling and display will be at stand number 2261, within the Golf Products and Services section of the Exhibition Hall, supported by UKTI. Additionally, a press conference will be held Thursday, January 26, from noon to 12:30 p.m. in OCCC Room 312A in the Show Media Center located on the third level of the Orange County Convention Center, just off the Grand Lobby.
Following the success of the guest presentation of the folio at last year's PGA show, Skellett and Weitzman have finally completed the epic 582 page collector edition, now known as the Captain's Edition, as well as The Tournament Champions Folio Trophy, limited to 10 commissions. This individualized elephant folio is covered in the world's rarest leather, capturing the spirit of golf over 150 editorialized art pieces, offering clubs and tournaments a real alternative to the traditional trophy. The duo have also made available unique art pieces for purchase as well as the release of the complete 150 piece limited edition GOLF art collection.
Four years in the making, GOLF has been a Herculean task for the duo, self-confessed golf novices just four years ago. The publication and art collection has seen Skellett and Weitzman travel the world working with many rare library, famous club and archive collections, including those synonymous with the Ryder Cup and The Open. With the publication of the folio, Skellett and Weitzman have resurrected and restored many rare and never seen images, covering the history and culture of the game. In exchange, the duo contributed new digitized collections for each archive.
The Augusta National is also represented in collaboration with legendary photographer and archivist, Frank Christian, with whom the duo are involved on other projects. 'GOLF is an incredible piece of work,' said Christian.
There have also been major contributions from playing legends such as Colin Montgomerie, Tony Jacklin, as well as considerable help from the PGA, PGAs of Europe, IMG, BGIA, EIGCA, EGCOA and coaches, David Leadbetter and JJ Rivet. Media celebrities with involvement included Mike Robins, producer of Law and Order and Nip Tuck, David L Simon, former chief of Dreamworks and Fox Networks, and world renowned chef, Marco Pierre White, a former caddie.
Orders for the GOLF folios and art collection pieces can be made at the show. The Captains Edition, a great gift for any club captain, is to be formally released in April at the Masters in collaboration with Frank Christian. Orders are also available at the show, with further corporate discounts.
Wonderland Publications has also announced a formal collaboration with Champions (UK) PLC, to market and distribute the GOLF publication, folios and art collection, as well as assisting in the negotiation for use of the GOLF image trademark on merchandise and apparel. The company will also be continuing its long standing relationship with the US media agency, Write Right Media.
