Nov. 16, 2004 – Situated a mere 1500 yards from the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, the Niagara community is anxiously awaiting the opening of John Daly’s Thundering Waters Golf Club. This pristine golf facility, situated next to Marineland Theme Park, is the closest 18-hole golf course to the falls, and is only two blocks from the fashionable Fallsview Tourist district, home of the new billion-dollar Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort.

Daly, a former PGA and British Open champion, and the tour’s 11-time driving distance leader designed the upscale golf facility in conjunction with Canadian golf course architect Bo Danoff. “I love this location...Niagara Falls is a world-renowned address and Thundering Waters is a landmark project” said Daly.

Niagara Falls is the fastest growing destination in Canada with 17 million visitors annually. “Our city is rapidly becoming the golf resort capital of Canada with two casinos, numerous luxury hotels, great attractions and restaurants, as well as over 40 great golf courses in the Niagara Region. Thundering Waters Golf Club will greatly enhance Niagara’s appeal to golfers from all over the world,” said Niagara Falls Mayor Ted Salci.

At the October 6, 2004 press conference, Daly briefed both the media and dignitaries from southern Ontario and western New York about the Thundering Waters project, and his future visits to Niagara Falls.

Mr. Daly released a statement saying “My vision in designing Thundering Waters was to give the Niagara Region an exciting, challenging, yet versatile course suitable for both golfers new to the game, and to those veterans of the sport who can challenge the very design of the course.”

He further stated: “As a professional golfer, I believe it is important to play courses that raise the level of my game, but equally, I believe that great golf courses are a place where friends and business associates can meet to enjoy the game of golf. Based on its spectacular architecture and its unmatched location I believe that Thundering Waters will become the gathering point for all types of golfers in this area. I am confident that you will discover a great new golf experience at Thundering Waters.”

Thundering Waters Golf Club is set to open in summer 2005.
