Cutter & Buck introduces a brand designed especially for golfers

SEATTLE -- He can be found as easily on the course, in the boardroom or out on the town. With a distinctive sense of style, he knows his game, he demands versatility, and he always leaves his mark. From one of the most notable golf apparel brands in the world, Cutter & Buck comes a brand designed especially for the next generation of golfers and for fashionable men who push the style envelope. Introducing CBUK.

“CBUK is about the evolving game and golfers who are challenging traditional apparel, but still require all the benefits of technical golf apparel and quality sportswear,” said Julie Snow, vice president of design and merchandising for Cutter & Buck. “Like its wearer, the spirit of CBUK makes a statement.”

CBUK (pronounced “see buck”) is poised to rule the scene with its combination of unique design elements and best-in-class fabric technologies. The collection is characterized by urban styling, a slimmer fit and irreverent novelty details that lend an element of discovery such as scorecard tags and prints, off-center logo placement, contrast double stitching and pieced construction. An orange buck logo adds an easily identifiable and humorous twist to the collection.

The versatility of CBUK offerings is enhanced through Cocona Natural Technology, an advanced hybrid-carbon technology that works by permanently embedding activated carbon derived from coconut shells into fiber and yarns to deliver one of the most effective moisture management systems available with added benefits of unsurpassed cooling and drying, odor control and UPF protection. Derived from the coconut shell, Cocona was first introduced in the outdoor industry in 2005 and fast earned a reputation as the most effective moisture and odor management fabric available in the marketplace and was named one of Time magazine’s top five innovations for 2005. CBUK garments featuring Cocona posses rapid evaporative cooling that equates to ultra fast drying and cool comfort, UV protection equivalent to 50+ SPF, advanced odor control and above all, a high level of comfort.

Another standout among CBUK’s performance offerings is NanoTex Coolest Comfort, which delivers excellent performance through advanced moisture wicking. NanoTex uses nanotechnology to transform the molecular structures of fibers, resulting in fabrics that draw moisture away from the skin and balance body temperature, while retaining the fabrics natural softness and breathe ability.

The initial CBUK offering will include two collections, Driver and Hudson, both topping the charts with style points. Although each collection evokes a different source of inspiration, they share a common bond of innovative performance fabrics, clean silhouettes, and layering versatility. Furthermore, each collection maintains Cutter & Buck’s high quality standards for premium fabrics, durable construction, and superior attention to detail as does their mainstream golf offering. Basic layering pieces found throughout both CBUK collections include the CB DryTec™ Tee-Line Polo, the CB DryTec™ Long Sleeve Ace Tee featuring Cocona, and the 100 percent cotton jersey CBUK Tee. Each of these key pieces are available in a wide variety of color ways, making it easy for the wearer to accomplish the CBUK signature “layered look” with modern wardrobe staples.

Driver is rooted in high-tech influences, as reflected in the collections’ bright pops of color into a sleek, modern palette. The CBUK consumer is surrounded by gadgetry, primarily fashioned in sleek blacks and silvers including laptops, ipods, cell phones and watches. These tech influences inspire a collection of product with a foundation in Black and Spur, a brown-influenced gray, with exciting design details and touches that add a bit of interest, intrigue and humor. Signal (brighter red) takes prominent role within the Driver collection and Spectra, an edgy yellow, adds a strong pop to the mix.

Look for the CB DryTec™ Charter Polo featuring NanoTex Coolest Comfort technology in White. The 100 percent polyester pique polo plays sharp with sporty 2-color collar and longer covered-placket. Pieced accents at sleeve and shoulder combine with trend-right epaulettes, large grommets, and contrast stitch details.

The CB DryTec™ Meridian Polo features Cocona technology in 100 percent polyester with a novelty stitch. The contrast of the carbon back adds style and sleekness to the garment. The two-color combination of Black and Spectra adds finesse and sport appeal with a quad contrast stitch at right front and at placket. Incredible detail at the back of the garment features contrast piecing and a tonal CBUK gel print.

The “Buck Icon” is the defining focus of the 60 percent pima cotton 40 percent polyester pique CB DryTec™ Magnus Polo available in Signal and Black. A self-collar and traditional three-button placket set the stage, but the pleasing details rest in the curved pocket with off-set “C” screen print and the buck screen print at right back. Also notable are the contrast double track of stitching at the placket, the contrast twill tape across the back yoke and woven score card print at back under collar.

The CB WeatherTec Driver Jacket is loaded with trend-right outerwear appeal in a durable water and stain resistant fabric. The combination of Spur and Black provides the perfect compliment to a pop of Edge piping. Garment features include a welded stow pocket at back, drop tail for added rain coverage, inner draw cord at collar for added protection, covered zipper placket inside and out, elastic cuff and shaped piecing in the front and back.

Hudson is a vintage-inspired collection, drawn from vintage golf clubs and cars as well as old photographs of the tropics. The result? - A collection with an interesting mix of color, tactile qualities of varied fabrics and uniquely exciting design details. Hudson’s vintage palette is focused around two key colors, Element, an olive-toned green, and Draft, a light blue. Mixed with these key colors is a trend-right shade of deep green-blue called Titan, and a grounding shade of khaki called Pebble. Edge, a “pop” orange, adds a hit of humor and personality to complete the assortment.

Draft and Edge come together in the CB DryTec™ Lyndon Polo featuring Nano-Tex Coolest Comfort technology. Polyester pique fabric lends well to a debossed print at right side seam, clever piecing and tonal twill tape detail, as well as a woven CBUK patch. The back of the polo is just as memorable with contrast stitching in Edge and two grommets for ventilation and hip visual appeal

The Kevlar Polo in Titan epitomizes casual cool with a self collar, chest pocket with CBUK label and deep sleeve hem detail. The unique piecing at the back of the garment lines add tremendous design interest as does a “C” gel print. However, the standout design feature has to be the off-center placed print at the back of the garment which reads: “Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill a pest a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow.” – New York Tribune (1916)

A key layering piece, the Cotton Intarsia Vest brings the collections’ key colors of Element and Draft together a novelty intarsia stripe pattern at front and in the placed rib detail at back.
A sportswear jacket with strong street appeal, the Hudson Jacket features sleek curved design lines, yet the garment washed fabric lends a vintage feel. Available in Titan, the 65 percent cotton 35 percent nylon full zip closure jacket features a chest pocket, on-seam front zippered pockets, curved hemline and partial elastic cuff.

Available in Element and Pebble, the Hudson Short and Hudson Pant completes the look on bottom. Each features a garment washed 98 percent cotton, two percent spandex poplin blend with clean plain front styling. Interest is focused at the waistband and back patch pockets with contrast zigzag stitch at back belt loops and faux bellows details on the patch pockets.
