Oklahoma -- The Territory – a golf and residential community near the quaint, progressive town of Duncan – continues to provide its members and guests with popular and informative programs. In addition to the teaching professionals’ hands-on golf lessons, Tristan Peck, Executive Chef/Food and Beverage Director, is sharing his culinary knowledge and passing on trade secrets to captivated students.
Thus far, The Territory – owned by Rick and Barbara Braught – and Peck have hosted two “Taught by Tristan” events – a Crème Brulee and Custard workshop in which participants received ramekins and torches for home use, and Cooking with Salmon, teaching just one of the many ways to work with the versatile fish.
“The events not only provide a useful and exciting service to our members and their friends, but they also allow me to get better acquainted with some terrific people,” Peck says. “They’ve been a huge success in terms of turnout and interest. I’m really looking forward to more in the future.”
Peck has holiday cooking and baking workshops scheduled and offers private cooking classes for those seeking a targeted, one-on-one experience.
Cooking classes are not just for adults at The Territory. Children recently participated as Peck taught the art of pizza making. While the pizzas were baking, the children decorated their aprons and chefs hats.
“We want The Territory to have a complete family atmosphere and children are interested in more than just playing by the pool or enjoying our three-hole short course,” says Rick Braught. “With Tristan leading the way, these kids are having a great time.”
Those looking to enjoy Peck’s artistry from the dining room have been treated to dishes such masterpieces as his signature dish – Huckleberry Panna Cotta Parfait, a 16 oz. Roasted Cowboy Steak, and an Italian Club Sandwich with imported meats.
The dining future at The Territory includes a new fall dinner menu and upcoming events like a Chilean Wine Dinner and Holiday Champagne and Pastry Tasting.
The Territory’s championship golf course has already gained national recognition – it’s hosted the Oklahoma State Amateur, Oklahoma Senior State Amateur and an NCAA Division II Super Regional – and Peck is making the Prairie House a must-not-miss experience.
In addition, Prospector’s Ridge – Phase I of The Territory’s residential development – is set to unveil the first of its Tuscan-style homes being built by Majestic Builders. An Open House is scheduled for the week of Oct. 15.

About The Territory
The Territory is a golf and country club community located in Southwest Oklahoma. The course, which opened in 2004, has hosted the Oklahoma State Amateur, Oklahoma Senior State Amateur and an NCAA Division II Super Regional.
With five sets of tees – ranging from 4,845 to 7,110 yards – the modified target-golf course offers playability and enjoyment to players of all ages and skill levels. The greens are an A1-A4 creeping bentgrass blend, the tees, fairways and roughs are Tifsport Bermudagrass and native vegetation frames the playing corridors.
Prospector’s Ridge, the first planned phase at The Territory, is in the early stages of development. One home is completed and now occupied and more custom homes are under construction. In addition, on 16 of the 47 lots, Tuscany style homes are being developed by Majestic Builders of Lawton, Okla. Prices of lots available range from $68,000 to $135,000. Were a similar, high-quality property like The Territory located in the nearby Dallas-Fort Worth area it would likely cost three times as much.
