POCONO MOUNTAINS, Pa. -- The Pocono Mountains Vacation Bureau, Inc. and Jack Frost National Golf Club today announce that the much-anticipated championship layout will host a preview round for media on Friday, Oct. 6.
The mountain-resort course – which is located within easy driving distance from NYC, Philadelphia and New Jersey (and within reason from Washington, D.C. and Pittsburgh) – is an 18-hole championship course which will measure more than 7,200 yards and feature Lo-Mo Bluegrass fairways and Penn-4 Bent grass greens. Double-row irrigation system, five sets of tee boxes and a state-of-the-art practice facility are other facility attributes.
The course’s Grand Opening is scheduled for Spring 2007. Jack Frost National was originally planned to open this fall, however, an inordinate amount of rain this spring and summer precipitated the change.
Jack Frost National Golf Club is joining more than 35 resort and golf properties which are home to hundreds of holes of golf in the lush mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania and comprise the area’s rich golf setting “Pocono Mountains: Discover Golf’s Great Destination Secret.”
Media members are invited to a “sneak peak” round the day before charter members and local dignitaries play the course.
In addition to showcasing the golf course, this preview will feature opportunities to speak with the course designer Terry Lagree, the management company’s CEO (Tom Wheary), its marketing executive (Kim Wade), its Course Superintendent (Brian Nuss) and its Director of Golf, who will be announced and introduced this day.
