HONG KONG -- Yuan Hao of the Genting Golf Team has teed his way to the top at the second leg of the China Professional Golfers' Association Championship Tour. For the second consecutive year, the China PGA is sponsored by Genting Hong Kong (GHK), which is proud to continue contributing to the steady growth of the sport in mainland China. Same as last year, GHK also sponsored 10 of the top Chinese professional golfers and formed the Genting Golf Team.
Hao demonstrated his finely-crafted skills and resilience; and swung through the rank, outperforming 65 qualified international and local players, at the game held at St Andrews Golf Court, on May 19 in Zhengzhou, Henan. He was especially proud to have won at St Andrews where he serves as the resident golf coach.
Eight of the Genting Golf Team members qualified for the final round, competing against notable players from South Korea, Thailand and Australia for a purse of US$200,000 in the 4-day tournament. The seasoned Genting golfer Wu Wei Huang placed sixth.
"The Genting Team is confident that we are in a good position to outdo ourselves in subsequent legs, as we can fully focus on our game thanks to Genting Hong Kong's support," said Hao.
Hao was the only Chinese player qualified for the final round at the GS Caltex Maekyung Open in Seoul this May. He placed 1st at the Beijing leg at China PGA last year and 2nd at the Shenzhen leg this year. His final ranking at China PGA last year was second.
The tournament's ProAm games also saw the participation of a celebrity team, featuring renowned thespian Zhu Shi Mao (captain), singing sensation Sun Nan (player) and actress Wang Ji (player).
