Chinese officials are borrowing a page from the American style of business practices by sponsoring a golf tournament. The US China Association for Promotion of Economy and Trade, together with the China Beijing Lions Club, Tanglong International Media Group and InConTra, Inc. will host the first Chinese Foreign Entrepreneurs Golf Invitational Tournament in Beijing, China October 8 – 12, 2006.

In September of 2005 the China Beijing Lions Club was chartered. Lions Clubs International had been established in 1917 with the goal of offering people the opportunity to give something back to their communities. From involving members in projects as local as cleaning up an area park or as far-reaching as bringing sight to the world’s blind, Lions Clubs have always embraced those committed to building a brighter future for their community. Today there are more than 45,000 clubs in 199 countries. Lions have expanded their focus to help meet the ever-increasing needs of the global community.
Tanglong International Media Groups is China’s largest private TV program provider and one of Asia’s largest media groups. Tanglong, founded by Dr. Xingdong Lu maintains extensive collaborations with more than 300 TV stations in China and broadcasts on 600 channels in 200 cities. “What better way to bring entrepreneurs from all over the United States and the world together with their counterparts in China than a good round of golf, a game than transcends languages, and naturally fosters camaraderie as well as a friendly competition” said Lu.
Eric Oborski, President of New York-based InConTra, Inc which is providing the travel packages, was among the first to offer travel opportunities to Americans when China began opening up to foreigners in the late 1970s. “China is undergoing a historic transformation culturally, economically and business-wise, all at an extraordinary rate, and this tournament has the potential to provide a natural forum for business professionals to tap into the expertise of individuals who are well versed in creating relationships for entrepreneurs” Oborski said. “Throw in the fun of a good golf game in a destination such as China and you have a fantastic time.”
InConTra, Inc. is a member of the prestigious JAL group of companies established in 1991 for the creation of unique international travel programs. From maintaining the tradition of the annual Santa Goodwill Tours abroad, which feature visits to facilities to those in need, to tailor-making exciting travel packages for service-related groups, InConTra, Inc, specializes in putting people together around the globe where both sides benefit from a win-win situation.
This tournament has the distinction of having received the endorsement from the “Godfather of golf” in China, Mr. Gaotang Rong. “The time has never been better than the present to bring together golf players of China with international golf enthusiasts who are also entrepreneurs. What more appropriate way to foster networking and understanding.” Rong said.
To enhance the overall experience participants will have the option to extend their stay in China to Xian, Shanghai as well as a deluxe Yangtze River Cruise.
