R&A adds Royal Liverpool to booklet series on wildlife on courses

The R&A has added Royal Liverpool to its series of booklets on the wildlife to be found on Open Championship courses. It features the historic links of the Royal Liverpool Golf Club on the Dee estuary and highlights the importance of course management in protecting the wide diversity of plants and animals to be found in these often fragile environments.

The booklet aims to raise awareness of the importance of wildlife and habitats on golf courses and shows the ways that golf and environmental bodies are working together to protect the natural heritage.

The R&A is aware of its obligation and has created a Web site http://www.bestcourseforgolf.org - dedicated to producing best practice guidelines for course management that fully protect environmental and ecological concerns, proving that golf and wildlife can happily co-exist.

The booklet can be viewed and downloaded at 2006 Wildlife booklet LR Final.pdf.
