PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- Bonterra Vineyards, owned and produced by the Brown-Forman Corporation, has been named "The Official Wine of The PGA of America." Founded in 1870 by George Gavin Brown in Louisville, Ky., Brown-Forman is one of the largest American-owned companies in the global wine and spirits industry. Brown developed the then-novel idea of selling top-grade whiskey in sealed glass bottles. From that idea, the company blossomed as a diversified producer and marketer of fine-quality consumer products, which in fiscal 2006 produced sales of $2.4 billion.
"The PGA of America is proud to welcome Bonterra Vineyards into our family of premier partners as The Official Wine of The PGA of America," said PGA of America President Roger Warren. "Brown-Forman joins us as The PGA of America celebrates its 90th year, and together we look forward to developing this partnership throughout our Association's calendar of premier events."
Brown-Forman produces and markets many of the most well-known and best-loved wines and spirits in the world, including Jack Daniel's, Canadian Mist, Southern Comfort, Early Times, Korbel champagnes, Fetzer wines, and Bolla wines.
"It's an honor to be associated with The PGA of America," said Andrew Varga, senior vice president/managing director of marketing at Brown-Forman. "This partnership gives us a tremendous opportunity to tell the Bonterra organic story, including our commitment to creating world-class wines for golf fans and PGA Professional-staffed facilities."
Celebrating its 90th anniversary, The PGA of America was founded in 1916, and is a not-for-profit organization that promotes the game of golf, while continuing to enhance the standards of the profession. The Association is comprised of more than 28,000 men and women PGA Professionals who are dedicated to growing participation in the game of golf.
