Brandon Tucker: Play 3 rounds of golf, get 2 on the house in Myrtle Beach this fall

School is back in session just about everywhere in America now, which means Myrtle Beach slants from a family beach destination back towards golf again.

The fall also means that accommodation rates along the beach generally go down because demand drops as temperatures do, so even if golf courses raise their rates from summer lows a bit heading into September and October, you'll probably make most, if not more of it back if you're wise with your lodging options.

Or, you could take advantage of free golf. Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday is currently offering a fall special that comes with two free rounds when you book three.

The two courses you play free aren't clunkers, either. You can choose between the 14 Prime Time golf courses that includes the River Club on Pawleys Island, a rare Grand Strand course with bent grass greens and also has one of the best risk-reward par 5s in the area, the show-stopping 18th hole (I still remember the 6-iron that I hit just a touch fat and hit the bulkhead before the green and bounced back into the drink).

River Club is one of fourteen "Prime Time" golf courses you can choose from for your two free rounds, including two relative newcomers to the group, both of which are among my favorite plays in the area: Pawleys Plantation and The Tradition.

The offer is good through Nov. 14, 2010.
