Mike Bailey: With cooler temperatures, fall in Las Vegas is perfect for a golf vacation

The weather forecast this Thursday calls for a high temperature in Las Vegas to be just 86 degrees with a low in the 60s. Now granted, there's also a day when it's supposed to be 100, but the triple-digit heat is pretty much gone in Las Vegas, which means golf weather is back.

Couple that with winter overseeding and perfect course conditions, the return of football and some nice package deals, and this is prime time for a quick Las Vegas golf vacation.

For example, the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino is offering something it calls the Winner's Package, which includes golf and two nights accommodations at its all-suite hotel. Courses in the package include both the Mountain course and the Palm course at Angel Park as well as Siena Golf Club. Prices begin around $300 per golfer and the special package runs through the end of the year.

Angel Park has 36 holes designed by Arnold Palmer, but it also has the lighted Cloud Nine Short Course and a putting course. Siena Golf Club is a terrific Schmidt-Curley design with sparkling white bunkers and bentgrass greens.
