Michael Marion appointed new Director of Golf at CordeValle in San Martin, California

SAN MARTIN, Calif. -- CordeValle, A Rosewood Resort, is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Marion to the position of Director of Golf. Marion brings nearly 20 years of golf experience to his new role, and is charged with managing the golf operations for both the private club and resort. In addition, he will be responsible for overseeing all major events at the resort, including the PGA TOUR's 2010 Frys.com Open in October, the 25th PGA Cup in 2011, and the USGA Senior Women's Amateur Championship in 2013.

"We are pleased to have someone of Michael's expertise on board," said Alan Campey, Managing Director of CordeValle and Regional Vice President of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. "We expect CordeValle and its members to benefit tremendously from the depth of Michael's experience, especially this year as we proudly host the PGA TOUR, October 14 - 17."

Marion has an extensive background working with private golf clubs and has been honored multiple times by both Golf Magazine and Golf Digest as one of the top golf instructors in the country. In 2009 he received the Oregon PGA "Horton Smith Award" for his outstanding contributions to the PGA education programs. Marion most recently served as Director of Golf at Pronghorn in Bend, Oregon, which, under his direction, was named "#1 Golf Community in the Country" by Travel + Leisure magazine in 2009. While at Pronghorn, Marion was responsible for establishing and monitoring facility protocols to create unique and memorable experiences for members and guests of the course, and establishing the club's first caddie program.

Prior to his time at Pronghorn, Marion served as the Director of Golf at Promontory, the Ranch Club in Park City, Utah for five years, and held the same position at Elk River Club in Banner Elk, North Carolina from 1996 to 2002. Among his many awards and notable background, Michael also is an advisory staff member for Nike Golf. He has held a position as Education Co-Chairman for the PGA Pacific Northwest section since 2008, and has been a PGA Master Professional since 1996.

"I'm thrilled to join such an esteemed golf club and am excited for the momentous events ahead, including the PGA TOUR event this October," said Marion. "In addition, to the wonderful opportunity to become Director of Golf at CordeValle, my family and I are also looking forward to living in such a wonderful part of the country."
