FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- Marine Corp Staff Sergeant Jake Taylor wins the 2010 Military Long Drive Championship qualifier held at the Fort Bragg Ryder Golf Course using The Mirror Tee to hit it Longer and Straighter than any of his fellow competitors.
Taylor's winning drive cradled by the USGA approved Mirror Tee traveled 362 yards, 2 feet and 7 inches. Based out of Camp Lejeune, NC, Jake credits the Tip It and Rip It™ 17° lean Mirror Tee with giving him an advantage over competitors using any other type of tee—traditional wood or specialty tee. I've found that the Mirror Tee has helped me drop my ball speed by 500 rpm's.
Taylor's career long-drive is an amazing 462 yards! When you swing the club in excess of 140 mph, "inches matter in my sport. Every bit of distance counts when you need to keep the ball in a long-drive grid," said Taylor.
The 2010 Military Long Drive Championship (MLDC) is open to United States Active Duty Service Members from any branch of service, Reservists, National Guard, Retirees and Family Members of U.S. Active Duty 18 years and older with valid Military ID card, and held on participating Military golf courses in the United States (CONUS & Hawaii) and abroad (OCONUS).
Jake and 15 other CONUS regional winners will compete at the City Pointe Driving Range in Dallas, TX on September 11, 2010 with the top 6 finishers earning a birth in the 2010 Final to be held in Mesquite, NV on November 3, 2010. The OCONUS participants will be competing in 3 locations in Europe and Asia with the winner from each site (also held on September 11, 2010) qualifying for the final. The 10th and final slot in the competition is reserved for the prior years' champion. The Finals event is scheduled to be televised and reported on by ESPN.
