Sun Mountain SLX stand bag wins Golf Digest Hot List Gold medal

MISSOULA, Mont. -- For the third consecutive year, the Sun Mountain SLX golf stand bag has been awarded a Gold medal in Golf Digest magazine's annual Hot List. The panel of judges specifically commented on the SLX's light weight, easy to use shoulder straps, effective stand mechanism and innovative legs. The SLX ($199) is one of three models in the Sun Mountain Superlight line of bags, joining the Superlight 3.5 ($179) and the college-licensed version of the 3.5 ($209). All three models of these lightweight golf bags are available now, call 800-227-9224 or visit to find your nearest retailer.

The Golf Digest Hot List judges include five editors from the magazine. The panel said that the judging criteria for the carry bags included the bags being light but sturdy, innovative without being a Rubik's Cube, and functional without being showy.

Specifically about the Sun Mountain SLX, the judges said, "sturdy without being bulky", "a 'slide' that joins the crossing shoulder straps makes it easier to adjust the level of the bag and less cumbersome to put on and take off." Commenting on Sun Mountain's patented stand mechanism, the panel said, "the Y-shaped spring helps the bag's legs deploy and retract quickly." Regarding the bag's legs the panel said, "large triangular foot pads keep the legs from sinking into wet turf or slipping in slick surfaces."

Sun Mountain's 2010 line of Superlight golf bags includes the Superlight 3.5 in men's and women's styles, the college-licensed version, and the Superlight SLX. Superlight 3.5 is also available in select colors in left-handed models. Each of the models includes Sun Mountain's patented built-in top handle, standard water bottle pouch, full-length club dividers, and seven pockets. The most significant difference between the models is the X-Strap® Dual Strap System on the SLX and college-licensed versions and the E-Z Fit® Dual Strap System on the 3.5.

The college-licensed Superlight 3.5 offers golfers the option of a top-of-the-line golf stand bag with major college and university team colors and logos. To-date Sun Mountain has agreements in place with 57 universities ranging from Alabama to Wisconsin, with more being added.
