FORT WORTH, Texas -- As the recent winner of the Colonial County Club Junior Championship, Hud Morse is a force to be reckoned with on the green. He has become quite handy with his steel sticks. An incoming sophomore in high school this year, Morse is showing his determination and focus beating his competition by five strokes in this summers tournament. He shot a total score of 220 over the three-day golfing tournament played at the Fort Worth Colonial Country Club, averaging a score of 73 strokes per day.
This win did not come as a great surprise to fans and friends, as he is slowly gaining recognition for his golfing skills. In October of last year, Morse won his first 5A high school tournament at the Waterchase Golf Club. As a high school freshman at the time playing against mostly seniors, Morse showed his versatility and confidence in his growing potential.
Also, Morse has participated in the Crowne Plaza Invitational Pro-Am Golf Tournament in Fort Worth for the past two years. He performed exceptionally well for a golfer of his young age. He takes every golfing experience as an opportunity to mature as a serious competitor.
Morse is a dedicated golfer from the "you don't win silver, you lose gold school." His mature mentality sets him apart from other golfers his age and he practices what he preaches. He dropped all other sports he was playing to focus solely on mastering his golf swing and sharpening other essential skills.
Morse's next immediate goal is to win a Texas 5A state golfing championship. Even though Morse is a young growing talent, he is humble and grateful for his golfing abilities. He acknowledges the importance of his long-term goal of going to college, not just for golf but for a great education as well.
