New bilancio golf studio scheduled to open in Purchase, New York

A new PGA indoor golf facility will open this fall at bilancio, the personal fitness center on Manhattanville Road in Purchase. Under the direction of Chris Caulfield, formerly of Doral Arrowwood and a PGA professional for 26 years, the bilancio golf studio will feature a state-of-the art AboutGolf simulator, along with high speed cameras and video software, and a practice bay. In addition, one of the county's top golf fitness experts, Skip Latella, will work with golfers on biomechanics and conditioning using his patented Flexor Golf Training System for improved balance, strength and flexibility. Package programs of instruction, practice and conditioning will be available.

Caulfield has given more than 10,000 golf lessons in his career, working with golfers of all skill levels and abilities and over the years, has trained with some of the best golf instructors. As a competitor, he has won numerous golf tournaments and most recently in 2007, made it to the finals of the Champions Tour Qualifier. Adding to his expertise is today's technology. The new studio's interactive 3D golf simulator offers play on more than 36 courses around the world and provides valuable learning tools, such as real-time flight data and club speed. The new V1 software, used by many touring professionals, allows Caulfield to clearly analyze a student's swing. "It's the best way to help golfers understand exactly what's happening with their swing," said Caulfield. "There's no question that you can improve dramatically from this technology," he added. Through this program, Caulfield was able to increase his driver distance from 265 yards to 290 yards.

Sports physiologist Skip Latella has worked with hundreds of golf professionals, including Meaghan Francella, as well as Olympic athletes and university golf programs at Duke, Notre Dame, Yale, Dartmouth and New Mexico State. Latella's Flexor research, which spans over 20 years, was conducted at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and later published by the World Scientific Congress of Golf (WSCG). Latella was a featured presenter at the 2009 PGA Golf Education Conference and Exposition in Orlando.

The Metropolitan PGA has recognized the bilancio golf studio as a PGA Indoor Golf Facility. Owned and operated by Paul Bruni of bilancio luxury fitness management and Mike Callaway of the Callaway Sports Group, the new studio, located at 4 Manhattanville Road in Purchase, promises to be the most comprehensive indoor golf training center in the area. Fitness club membership is not required to use the golf studio. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 am to 7 pm, by appointment.
