Nor Cal Open Championship set for Sevillano Links in Corning, California

The Northern California Section of the PGA (NCPGA) is currently accepting player entries for the 83rd Northern California Open Championship set for Sept. 13-15 at Sevillano Links, the nationally-ranked John Daly Signature Course in Corning, CA (north of Sacramento on the I-5 corridor). Rich-in-tradition, the Nor Cal Open is a 3-day, 54-hole stroke play event which is expected to attract a field of seasoned players from various western states. The purse, which is projected to be $40,000 (based on a field of 144 players), is one of the largest pro purses this season for the Section.

The Nor Cal Open Championship is open to PGA and non-PGA professionals, and amateurs with registered indexes of 3.4 or less. The championship will be preceded by a skins game on Sun. Sept. 12. Over the years an impressive list of players have earned title to the Nor Cal Open Championship including reigning champion Todd Fisher, as well as George Archer, Matt Bettencourt, Peter Jacobsen, Tony Lema, Roger Maltbie, and David Sutherland, to name a few. Conducted by the NCPGA in conjunction with the NCGA, this championship has been contested at various Nor Cal courses over the years, that is, prior to securing Sevillano Links as its new home venue.

Sevillano Links at Rolling Hills Casino has received the following distinctions: Top 10 of Best New Public Courses by Golf Digest Magazine [2008], Golfweek's 50 Best New Public Course list [2008], Golfweek's Best Casino Course list [2008 & 2009], and ranked No. 10 on Northern California's Best 100 Public Golf Courses List [2009].

Besides an award-winning course, on site you'll find a casino with 800 slot machines and table gaming opportunities. The resort has two lodging options with the Ramada Inn and The Lodge -Vagabond Inn Hotel plus four dining experiences, an RV Park & Travelers Lounge, and pet care on site too. Hunting and fishing adventures are available through the neighboring Clear Creek Sports Club.
