Tarheel Golf Foundation Junior Tour enjoys phenomenal growth

The Tarheel Golf Foundation has released its 2010-2011 Junior Tour Schedule. The TGF Junior Tour provides nationally ranked junior tournaments on courses within North Carolina with playing divisions for high school boys, middle school boys and girls 12-18. Started in 2009 to bring lower total cost of participation events and greater tournament access to junior golfers tour membership has grown to over 1,100 including active members from 28 states and 7 countries. Phenomenal growth and consistently full playing fields have allowed the non-profit organization to follow its mission to provide nationally ranked events to junior golfers within North Carolina and to provide playing opportunities with a lower total cost of participation. Additional benefits have come as well, including multiple AJGA exemptions for players over the coming season, Callaway Junior World Championship qualifying opportunities and a second season hosting the Rex Hospital Open Junior Invitational in 2011 where a player may earn an exemption into a Nationwide Tour event.

The lower total cost of participation goal continues to be at the heart of the organization that believes high value, quality junior golf tournaments that provide exposure to college coaches should be more affordable. This coming season entry fees at most events have been reduced by an average of 8%. These include events at UNC-Chapel Hill, Carolina Trace Country Club and Duke University that offer AJGA exemptions. The organization also doe not charge a membership fee as a requirement of tournament participation. The lower entry fees and lack of membership fees mean that a junior can play in all 8 TGF fall events for less than the cost of membership and one entry fee on some tours that host events in NC.
