GCSANC Turfgrass Scholarship & Research Fundraising Tournament set for July 26

The 2010 Clifford & Myrtle Wagoner Turfgrass Scholarship & Research Fundraising Tournament is set for Monday, July 26 at Cinnabar Hills Golf Club in San Jose, Calif. Hosted by the Northern California Chapter of the Golf Course Superintendents Association (GCSANC) this fundraising event benefits turfgrass research and scholarships.

Participants will be able to tee it up at one of Silicon Valley's premier courses followed by a buffet dinner, raffle, plus silent and live auction packed with desirable items including: golf equipment, autographed sports memorabilia, tickets to major sporting events (Sharks, SF 49ers, SF Giants, Oakland A's), 4-somes of golf at several top-rated Nor Cal courses, and Stay & Play Golf Getaways.

Registration is set for noon, at which time silent auction items will be unveiled for first review, followed by a 1:00 p.m. shotgun-start (4-person team, two-person better ball format). Cost for golf and dinner buffet is $130.00 per player. For those who want to attend dinner & auction only, that option is available. While on site, attendees will also have a chance to visit the world-renown Brandenburg Historical Golf Museum, packed with plenty of interesting golf memorabilia.

"The GCSANC has been an advocate for turfgrass research projects for more than five decades and this event allow us to continue diligently in lending our support," stated GCSANC Affiliate Director Greg Dunn, a tournament committee member. "Through this event we're also able to raise funds for turfgrass scholarships, and all in the good name of GCSANC Past President Cliff Wagoner, and his wife, Myrtle, chapter supporters whose volunteer efforts run deep and span several decades."

The fundraising tournament, silent and live auction, raffle, and dinner are all open to golf course superintendents and turfcare industry representatives, as well as golf professionals, general managers, golf course owners, allied association leaders, and guests.
