PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Nov. 6, 2004 – On the strength of four wins and top-10s in all five starts, Vijay Singh has clinched his third-consecutive Fall Finish presented by PricewaterhouseCoopers. He was presented with the award at the PGA Tour's season-ending Tour Championship presented by Coca-Cola. With the Fall Finish title, Singh will receive a bonus of $500,000.
Now in its fifth year, the Fall Finish Presented by PricewaterhouseCoopers is an 11-tournament series (that began at the Deutsche Bank Championship and will end with the conclusion of The Tour Championship presented by Coca-Cola) that includes enhanced purses and bonus awards totaling $1 million. Points are awarded for each top-10 finish, from 100 points for first place to 10 for 10th. Singh also won the PGA title in 2002 and 2003; Bob Estes won the series in 2001 while Tiger Woods won in 2000.
Singh leads the series with 465.000 points entering this week, which is enough to clinch the $500,000 first-place bonus. Ryan Palmer is currently in second with 170.000 points while Tom Lehman is in third with 163.750 points. The second-place finisher will earn $300,000 and third place will take home $200,000.
"That's incredible," said Singh following his clinching in last week's Chrysler Championship. "It is another thing that I can reflect on during the off-season. "It was great to win the last two years, and it's great this year. It's unbelievable."
In five starts, Singh has won the Deutsche Bank Championship, Bell Canadian Open and the 84 Lumber Classic. He also finished runner up at the Funai Classic at Walt Disney World Resort. Over the past three seasons, Singh has played in 17 Fall Finish events, with 16 top-10 finishes and seven victories.
"Vijay has demonstrated a consistent level of hard work and excellence over the last three years, culminating in an overall incredible year," said Dean Kern, U.S. Markets Leader for PricewaterhouseCoopers. "We are proud to present Vijay with his third consecutive Fall Finish title."
