Fourth annual Elbit Systems of America Junior Championship set

DALLAS -- For the fourth consecutive year, the nation's top junior golfers will descend upon the DFW Area for the American Junior Golf Association's Elbit Systems of America Junior Golf Classic taking place from June 20-24. The field will be comprised of boys and girls, ages 12-18, competing in the 54-hole stroke-play event at Southern Oaks Golf Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

A portion of the field will be reserved for players earning entry via the 18-hole K12 Qualifier, which will be held Sunday, June 20. K12 Qualifiers give juniors an opportunity to "play their way in" to coinciding AJGA Open tournaments or earn a tournament exemption or "performance star" for a future event.

The tournament practice round will take place Monday, June 21, with the first and second rounds taking place on Tuesday, June 22, and Wednesday, June 23. The Boys and Girls Division fields will be cut following the second round. The final round will take place Thursday, June 24. An awards ceremony will take place immediately after Thursday's final round. Spectators are welcome and admission is free.

A Junior-Am Fundraising Tournament will take place Monday, June 21, allowing local amateurs to play a competitive round of golf with future stars of the game. Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Davis Love III, Justin Leonard, Charles Howell III, Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel and Grace Park are just a few of the thousands of talented players who participated in AJGA Junior-Ams when they were teenagers.

This will be the fourth year that Elbit Systems of America has been the title sponsor of this prestigious tournament, one of 85 American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) events for 2010. Elbit Systems of America, headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, specializes in integrating leading-edge solutions for the defense, commercial aviation and medical instrumentation industries. With its Airborne and Land solutions business unit operations based in Fort Worth, Elbit Systems has a significant presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Based at the Chateau Elan Resort in Braselton, Georgia, the American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. The largest association of its kind, the AJGA has an annual junior membership (boys and girls ages 12-18) of more than 5,000 junior golfers from 50 states and more than 30 foreign countries.

In addition to providing opportunities to junior golfers aspiring to earn college scholarships, the Elbit Systems of America Junior Golf Classic benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in their quest to "cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families."
