Myrtle Beach's Possum Trot Golf Club preparing for reopening

Possum Trot Golf Club, located in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., will reopen for play on June 18, 2010. The golf course has been closed since May 17.

Possum Trot has a reputation for delivering excellent playing conditions throughout the year. While it was closed, the course underwent numerous changes designed to improve the overall aesthetics of the course and maintain a high level of conditioning.

Eight greens were rebuilt and drainage was improved around several greens. Several tees were rebuilt and several mounds were added throughout the course to increase visual interest and assist with drainage.

Known as the "Friendliest Course On The Beach," Possum Trot has an honored place in the history of Myrtle Beach golf. One of the first 10 championship courses built along Myrtle Beach's Grand Strand, Possum Trot has stood the test of time. The course's Old English design features spacious fairways, challenging par 5's and flawlessly manicured greens.

Possum Trot's awards include "Most Underrated Golf Course In Myrtle Beach" and "Best On-Course Practice Facility in Myrtle Beach," both from Golf Digest.
