Bushnell laser rangefinders continue record sales growth in 2006

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- As the golf season reaches the midseason point, Bushnell today revealed that its 2006 golf sales have more than quadrupled through the month of June. Due in large part to the USGA’s decision to legalize distance measuring devices on January 1, 2006, Bushnell sales are now up over 400% compared to 2005.

Bushnell, which initially had a waiting list to fulfill orders for the new Bushnell PinSeeker 1500 Tournament Edition ($399), has significantly increased its output to meet ongoing demand for product.

“At the beginning of the year we were forecasting our golf sales to increase, however nobody expected our numbers to skyrocket as high as they have,” said Mark Welch, Vice President of Sales. “While there is still work to do, we are exceeding projections and are on pace for a record year.”

Sales have been especially strong in green grass and off-course retail shops because of the PinSeeker’s ability to be used right out-of-the-box, allowing it to be played at 100% of the courses around the world without the need for reflectors.

“While the anticipated rule change has certainly been a driving force, we believe that golfers are fully realizing the overwhelming benefits that Bushnell rangefinders provide them on the golf course,” said Steve Claude of Edwin Watts Golf. “When in stock, the PinSeekers draw just as much attention as big name drivers and have the ability to sell just as quickly.”

The new Bushnell PinSeeker 1500 Tournament Edition employs a unique selective targeting mode, allowing the user to quickly and easily acquire distance to the flag without inadvertently acquiring background objects.

According to the Darrell Survey, Bushnell rangefinders are preferred by cumulative 93% of professionals on the PGA, LPGA and Champions Tours.
