Wintergreen Resort in Virginia celebrates Women's Golf Month

WINTERGREEN, Va. -- To celebrate women's golf and the golf industry's celebration of Women's Golf Month in June, Wintergreen Resort has designed special opportunities for both skilled golfers and novices alike to get the most out of their golf experience and enjoy the amenities that this award-winning, four-season destination resort and spa in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains has to offer.

During the month of June, foursomes visiting Wintergreen on the Girls Golf Getaway package can schedule rounds to best fit their individual itineraries, with the option to play two separate 9-hole rounds, or one complete 18-hole round, at either of Wintergreen's renowned resort courses.

Guests can play the Rees Jones-designed Stoney Creek Golf Course, which meanders along the Rockfish Valley, and the mountaintop Devils Knob Golf Course, known as "the coolest 18 holes in the state," since it beats the summer heat at an elevation of 3,850-feet.

Other features of the package include:
* Preferred afternoon appointments at the Wintergarden Spa
* Daily instruction with a Wintergreen Golf Academy staff professional
* The new SwingModel computer video analysis program
* Golf-specific stretching and warm-up routines
* Price: $479 per person (lodging not included)

For beginners, Wintergreen introduced its Wednesday Women's Golf Series on June 16 and 23, which covers the basics of golf (equipment, swing, etiquette, tradition) in a small-group setting. Those who participate in the first and/or second clinic are eligible to play in a private nine-hole golf outing June 30. Activities begin at 3 p.m. each week at Stoney Creek Golf Course. Registration fee for the series is $30.

Women who participate in either instructional series also receive special pricing on Callaway golf equipment and Footjoy golf shoes available at Wintergreen, if purchased during the month of June.

The standard for all Wintergreen programs is a group ratio maximum of four students to one instructor. All students are allowed unlimited use of the Wintergreen Golf Academy's expanded practice facilities, which debuted this season.
