PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- Creedence Clearwater Revisited, which has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity from its legendary run of the 1960s as Creedence Clearwater Revival, will make a special appearance as part of The PGA of America's 2006 Distinguished Service Award ceremony, Aug. 16, 2006, at 7 p.m. CDT, at the Rosemont Theatre in Rosemont, Ill.
Former USGA President Fred S. Ridley of Tampa, Fla., will be the 18th recipient of the PGA Distinguished Service Award, the highest annual individual honor bestowed by The PGA of America. The ceremony is in conjunction with the 88th PGA Championship, Aug. 17-20, 2006, at Medinah (Ill.) Country Club.
Creedence Clearwater Revisited was launched in 1995 to once again perform live the legendary hits of Creedence Clearwater Revival – touchstones of a generation. Though the group initially only planned to play at private parties, Creedence Clearwater Revisited now performs up to 100 shows a year and has released the album Recollection.
With the new lineup, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame rhythm section members Stu Cook and Doug “Cosmo” Clifford (base and drums respectively) and their band add a new chapter to their legacy, with vibrant and exhilarating energy, in addition to pure American spirit.
The PGA Distinguished Service Award, inaugurated in 1988, honors outstanding Americans who display leadership and humanitarian qualities, including integrity, sportsmanship and enthusiasm for the game of golf.

Creedence Clearwater Revisited joins a tradition of headline performing artists to have staged their talents during the PGA Distinguished Service Award ceremony, including The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (2003), Three Dog Night (2004) and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy (2005).
The PGA Championship is one of the premier golf events conducted by The PGA of America. Others include the Ryder Cup, the Senior PGA Championship and the PGA Grand Slam of Golf. Since 1916, golf's best professionals have been competing for the PGA Championship's coveted Wanamaker Trophy.
