Massachusetts golf pro Glenn Kelley to play 200 holes for cancer

FALMOUTH, Mass. -- Local golf professional Glenn Kelly is teed off about cancer and is doing something about it. Mr. Kelly, a resident of Falmouth, will be playing golf, and lots of it, on Thursday, July 27, in an effort to raise money in the fight against cancer.

Mr. Kelly, the Head Golf Professional at Woods Hole since 1986, will attempt to play two hundred (200) holes of golf and raise money for Golf Fights Cancer. Last year, playing to honor his parents who are both cancer survivors, Mr. Kelly played 183 holes and raised more than $21,000 for Golf Fights Cancer. This year, Glenn is dedicating his marathon fundraising effort to the memory of his close friend, Lisa Macaluso, a 38 year old mother of six, who died of cancer earlier this year.

“The support I got from people last year for my debut Golf Marathon effort was unbelievable” said Kelly. “Friends, family members, people in the golf community and most certainly the membership of Woods Hole were incredibly supportive and generous. I am looking forward to Marathon II being an even greater success and to raising more money for Golf Fights Cancer. I am excited to pay tribute to such a special person like Lisa and it’s great to know that every dollar I raise will go directly to the fights against cancer.”

“We are honored that Glen has chosen to raise funds on behalf of Golf Fights Cancer” said Brian Oates, Co-Founder of Golf Fights Cancer. “Cancer touches everyone and we applaud people like Glen who choose to get involved and make a difference. The generosity and fundraising power of the golf community is incredible. We thank Glenn for his continued support and salute him for his Marathon efforts.”
